Our "own" George Sugimoto served as the Grand Marshal of the 2022 Nisei Week Parade, riding the parade route with his daughter, Lisa, in a vintage Chevy Corvair. Along with other Nisei Week honorees, he was recognized at an Awards Dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Little Tokyo, where all 300-people in attendance gave him a standing ovation when it was his turn at the podium.
An early interest in aviation motivated George to study avionic electronics, which led him to manufacture and design avionic components for aviation customers worldwide. His company, KGS Electronics, has been in operation for over 60-years. He was also an instrument rated pilot, and he flew a Piper Turbo Aero aircraft for 30-years.
An avid golfer, he has supported numerous community organizations, and the Pasadena Buddhist Temple, the Pasadena Nikkei Seniors, and the 1st Presbyterian Church of Altadena have all benefited from his generosity.
Congratulations George, for an honor well deserved!
